About
Welcome to my on-line portfolio.
My lifelong interest in photography has become a consuming passion. I have never managed to specialise because too many subjects catch the light in ways I find irresistible. I particularly enjoy working with natural light and "found" subjects but I love all photography.
I enjoy digital cameras for their immediacy, film for its sharpness and rich tones, cheap plastic toy cameras for the flaws which can produce unexpected creative effects. A long-term colour addict, I am now beginning to explore the subtleties of black and white.
I dream of travel, which has always sparked my photography, but I also enjoy the challenge of finding inspiration in familiar surroundings.
My photography blog is Lawreyphoto. I also write a column called "Different Strokes" for the Canberra Photographic Society's online newsletter, "Capital Image".
I live in Canberra, the capital of Australia.
